And that is the next exciting thing about podcasting. Podcasting is not just a bunch of radio programs that are like every other radio program out there.

Podcasts are focused programs that are geared to very specific niche markets.

Got an interest in historical figures? There’s a podcast audio program about that.

Got an interest in the air force? There’s a podcast audio program about that.

Drink too much coffee and love it? There’s a podcast audio program for that.

There are thousands of podcasts out there and there’s bound to be something of interest to you. Whether you like to laugh at comedians or learn from experts, there’s something of interest to everyone.

And they take different formats, too. Some are trivia shows. Some are interviews. Some are lectures or single-person rants. Some are full-fledged production-quality shows with effects and special guests, like a late night talk show.

Okay, I know your next question, too, because I asked it as well: Satellite television can be pretty pricey, how much does podcasting cost? Nothing.

That's Right, Zero, Zip, Nada - Poscasts are totally FREE!

This is where I grew very skeptical because there are very few things in life that are free. But it is free and here’s why.

Podcasting is done by people with an interest in the area that they are podcasting on.

Anyone can podcast, and even though it’s picked up by your computer and transmitted to your MP3 player, you don’t actually need to have a computer to be a podcaster; you can just do it over the phone.

As well, podcasting is so new (the word podcasting was coined in 2004) and there is no regulatory body overseeing the industry so people are trying all kinds of things to figure out what works and what doesn’t in the world of podcasting.

The accessibility and “newness” and lack of rules has meant that it has become a primary form of self-expression. The result is that there are thousands of podcasts out there. And they’re free.

But in spite of the variety and the low cost of zero dollars, that’s not why I like podcasting.

I like podcasting because it’s an automated system. Like when you subscribe to a magazine, you don’t give it a second thought until it reaches your mailbox. Then you remember that you’ve subscribed and you read it.

Podcasting technology allows you to subscribe to a podcast that you like (for free), have it downloaded to your computer (for free) as often as it is updated (for free), and from there you can listen to it on your computer or on your MP3 player (for free).

If the podcast you want is updated daily, like a podcast covering the news headlines of the day, your computer will pick it up every day. If the podcast you subscribe to is about major league baseball and it is updated once a week, your computer will automatically get it once a week.

Whenever a podcast is updated, your computer gets it automatically. So it’s convenient.

I put it the latest podcast on my MP3 player to listen to when I take my dog for a walk. That’s convenient as well. That’s why I like podcasting: continual updates on my favorite shows so that I can listen whenever and wherever I want.

And it sure doesn’t hurt that it’s free!

So why am I telling you all this? I want to share with you three exciting things.

First, that podcasts are an exciting new medium that give you convenient, free programming that you will enjoy.

Second, if you’re looking for a way to share your interest and hobbies with others, this is a great way to do it. Did I mention that was free as well?

That’s right, it doesn’t cost anything to podcast, which is probably another reason why so many people are podcasting. Everyone has something to say and in many cases what they have to say is interesting to someone else.

For example, if you have a passionate interest in the stock market, there’s plenty of other people out there with the same interest who might be interested to hear how you’ve done so well in it. (In fact, there’s several of those podcasts already).

So podcasting is a way for you to share your interests and hobbies with other people. That makes it a lot of fun!

And I said there were three exciting things I wanted to tell you about. I’ve only mentioned two so far.

The third thing I wanted to share with you was that podcasting is also a chance for a person who runs a business, or a person who is thinking of starting a business to make some money.

Now for skeptical people like ourselves, you’re probably wondering how freely made and freely distributed podcasts can make money. I’m glad you asked.

There are many ways you can make money from podcasting. For example, not all podcasts are free, although most of them are. I believe paid podcasts are going to be the next wave of podcasts that we’ll see, just like cable television and satellite television were the pay-per-view wave that followed free television.

And there are other ways that an entrepreneur could make money on this fledgling industry. I’d like to show you how you can make money from podcasting.

Finally a System That Works - Students Are Earning $4,234,789/Year!

In the world of internet marketing, there’s a new product that is launched every week (maybe even every day). I know you know about it because you get the e-mails. I’m not saying that all or even any of these products are bad.

Most are probably great in their own light. But, here’s one thing that really bothers me about ALL these products.

So, the goal of the product is to teach “US” how to make money, right? Yet, they sell the products based on how much that “GURU” is earning?

Again, I’m not saying that the guru doesn’t make that much money, I’m sure he/she does. However, how does that help “me?”

Just because someone is good at making money does NOT mean they’re good at TEACHING us how to do it. I’m always shocked at how none of them talk about what their “students” make.

Crappy Testimonials…

To top it off, a lot of testimonials are general and just say “Oh yea, this course is great…” and most of time the testimonials are just from their “buddies” – I think these hardly carry any value!

How about sharing the “exact” amount that the students are now making 100% thanks to the course that they’re trying to sell us?

Anyways, that was my rant. The reason I thought about it was because, yes, there is yet another course being “re” launched soon. Trust me, if you haven’t heard about it you will.

We all learn to read at school, after a fashion. But for most of us, this is not an optimal use of our brain power. In this course you will learn to better use the left brain's focused attention combined with the right brain's peripheral attention, in close harmony. Good communication between the brain hemispheres is a pre-requisite for creative thinking and also a sense of wellbeing, where thoughts and feelings are integrated.

As you probably expect, this course will also teach you to read much faster and at the same time, to remember more of what you have read. These are obviously great advantages.

There is another major benefit. Most of us, as we read, 'speak' the words in our heads. It is this subvocalisation that holds back fast reading and it is unnecessary. It is possible to have an inner speech, a kind of 'thought awareness,' that isn't linked to the tongue, mouth and vocal chord muscles, and this is much faster and more fluent. Cutting out the identification of vocalisation and the stream of thought gives a surprising by-product. Many of us think that our constant subvocalised 'speaking voice' is who we are. Finding
out that you can think and be aware without a vocal stream of words, opens up your consciousness to the usually unrecognised domain of intuition and spiritual awareness. You'll have a better sense of who you really are. Try it and see!

GOLDEN RULE: When studying this course, and indeed, whenever reading passages that you want to understand and make use of, make sure never to pass by a word or concept that you do not understand. If you do pass by a misunderstood word or concept, the rest of the text will probably become incomprehensible, and you will feel distracted and bored. If it's worth reading at all, then you owe it to yourself to define any word you're not sure of, or find the misunderstood word(s) in the concept that is unclear and sort that out before going further. If your studies bog down, go back to where you were doing well, clear up your understanding and start off again from that point.

Techniques in this course will reduce the time for each fixation (the assimilation of a group of words simultaneously) to less than a quarter of a second, and the size of fixation can be increased from one or two short words to as many as five words or half a line. Your eyes will be doing less physical work; rather than having as many as 500 tightly focused fixations per page, you will be making about 100, each of which is less fatiguing, and reading speed will exceed 1,000. w.p.m. on light material.

With this software, you can personalize your website in two ways (unike some other personalization scripts). Here's how they work:

1st Method: Personalize Through Email

You can use this method to boost up the response from your email campaigns, if you have an ezine or newsletter or even an autoresponder series.

Suppose you are send an email to your list about your new book on 'How to Make a Million In a Year'. Normally you would just send them a link that looks like:

www.HowToMakeAMillionInAYear.com/new-book.htm

But now, you send them a 'personalized-link' which looks like this:

www.HowToMakeAMillionInAYear.com/new-book.htm?Stephen

And when the visitor clicks on the link, he is taken to a page which is personalized with his name. A page that says, "Hi Joe, How are you doing today?" instead of "Dear Fellow Internet Marketers" or something like that...

How do you do this? Just put the 'personalization code' of your autoresponder or ezine manager at the end of the URL after a question mark.

Different autoresponders and scripts use different codes, like <%NAME%> or <$NAME$> or of whatever. Just put that at the end of the URL after a question mark.

So your url should look something like:

www.YourSiteName.com/?<$NAME$> (or)
www.YourSiteName.com/?<%NAME%>

OR

www.YourSiteName.com/somepage.htm?<$NAME$> (or)
www.YourSiteName.com/somepage.htm?<%NAME%>

Its Completely Error Safe...

And the most important part is, it is completely error safe. Which means, if there's some problem with your autoresponder or ezine, and you get emails that read like:

Hi <%NAME%>

The script will automatically detect it, and redirect the visitor to another non-personalized page. That way, it appears completely normal to them, and instead of making more sales, you don't end up loosing them...

2nd Method: Directly Ask The Visitor's Name on the Website

You can also add another piece of code to directly ask for the user's name on any webpage. Here's how that works...

When a visitor visits your website, he gets a prompt message, asking him his name. When he enters his name, it automatically gets personalized with his name.

When selling a product, a lot of people make the mistake of
developing their product first, and then trying to find a market for
it. Of course, the process should be reversed.
Find a market first that spends money, then find out
what they want and give it to them.

It is certainly easier said than done, but there are a lot of places
online where you can do your market research for free. They've
done most of the work for you already. You just need to know
where to go and what to do to connect all the dots.
Let me show you the process I go through when I'm
trying to brainstorm for ideas.

For starters, I'm always aware of trends and current events in the
real world. I read several newspapers each day, many magazines,
both general and niche-specific, I watch the news, I listen to the
radio. Occasionally something that I hear or read will stick with
me. I may record my thoughts on my portable voice recorder; jot
down some notes, whatever happens to be convenient for me.
Sometimes I'll call my office voice mail and leave myself a
message.

But at some point I'll have several broad ideas to research. I want
to look deeper. And I want to make sure there is a good market for
them before I even think about creating a product.

Three Colleges Unlike All the Others

Lots of people perform better when allowed to focus on one task at a time.

In most cases, such people prefer a single task, even if highly difficult, to two or three offering lesser challenges.

It should be no surprise that these same folks almost always adapt well to a one-course-at-a-time calendar, particularly if they are enrolled in a degree program while juggling family, professional, and/or other responsibilities. For that reason, online degree programs are often offered in a one-course-at-a-time format.

But, you might be surprised to learn that three traditional colleges offer the same structure. One is Colorado College, a highly selective institution which adopted what it calls the Block Plan in 1970. The Block plan divides the academic year into eight terms, each three and a half weeks long. Depending on the material to be covered, students may take a single course for one block, two blocks, or more.

Iowa's Cornell College, not to be confused with Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, uses an identical calendar and an identical one-course-at-a-time system.

Tusculum College's "focused calendar" also divides each semester into four terms of three and one half weeks, with a four day vacation at the conclusion of each. Students may also take one-course-at-a-time during one or more of three optional summer terms.

Colorado College, Cornell, and Tusculum have many differences. Colorado College is the most selective, and draws more students from greater distances than do Cornell and Tusculum. Tusculum is significantly less expensive than the others. Colorado Springs, Mt. Vernon, and Greeneville are as different as can be, and the campus environments at the three institutions feature substantial, obvious differences. What is the same at the three colleges is their belief that a one-course-at-a-time calendar provides students with multiple advantages which include the freedom to take field trips without worrying about schedule conflicts, the opportunity to focus on and gain the most in-depth knowledge of a subject, and the time to extend class discussions or laboratory based projects at will.

If you like the idea of taking one course at a time, and if the advantages of a block schedule appeal to you, one or more of these three unique colleges may be good options for you.

How to Make Full Time Money as a Part Time Blogger

One year ago I did not know the next thing about blogging or how to make money with a blog. Like everybody reading this article, I surfed the net and used email, but I literally knew nothing about the online world of blogging and affiliate marketing. Over the past year that has all changed. As a part-time blogger, I've started to make thousands of dollars a month online.

Like you, my time is limited. I have a wife, two teenagers, and a full-time job. So I have very little time each day to devote to blogging. But it can be done. And the first step in the process is learning how to pick a domain name, sign up for web hosting, and set up your blog. All of this can be done in under 20 minutes once you get the hang of it. In this article I'll walk you through the basics of how to set up a site. If this is new to you, trust me, it's much easier than it may seem. So let's get started.

Picking a domain name

The name of your site is one of the most important decisions you'll make when setting up a blog or website. And generally, you want to consider two important factors. The first factor is branding. You want the name to be memorable. If you are promoting an off line business, for example, a domain name that matches the name of your company is obviously critical. But even if your business is entirely online, a memorable domain name can help you build reader loyalty and trust. This is the approach I took with my site, The Dough Roller. Exactly how well I accomplished that goal I'll leave to you, but the people I talk to say its catchy and memorable. That's the goal if your focus is branding.

The second factor to consider are keywords. Keywords are the word phrases we all type into Google, Yahoo! or other search engines to find information on the Internet. When selecting a domain name, consider what keywords are relevant to your site and include theme in the domain name. There are at least two separate SEO benefits for having a keyword rich domain name.

First, the URL of a page is one factor Google's search engine algorithm considers when ranking pages. If your site is about mortgage loans, having those keywords in your domain name will help your site rank well for those and related keywords. Second, you will find that most sites that link to your homepage will use your site's name as the anchor text of the link. Having links to your site that use keyword rich anchor text can mean a huge boost in the search engine rankings for your site.

Web Hosting

Having selected your domain name, you now need to get your new site hosted. There are many, many web hosting services available. And if you ask two bloggers which one is the best, you are likely to get at least three different answers. No matter what web hosting service you consider, there will be those who absolutely hate the web host, and those that love it. I've used three different web hosting services over the past year, and for me, Bluehost is hands down the best.

The reason I like Bluehost is because I can get technical support on the phone usually in under 60 seconds. Is Bluehost ever down? Of course it is. But so far it has been very reliable for me. Regardless of which web hosting service you choose, getting your new domain hosted is the second step. Most services can easily walk you through the process, and you can always phone technical support. I've put a separate article together that visually walks through setting up hosting and installing WordPress with Bluehost.

Setting Up WordPress

I use WordPress for all of my sites for several reasons. First, it's free. Second, it is widely used and many developers have made free themes and plugins to use with WordPress. Three, search engines, particularly Google, seem to rank WordPress blogs well in the search enging rankings. And fourth, it's easy to use.
With Bluehost and most web hosting services, you can install WordPress with just a couple of clicks. Once installed, there are some critical WordPress plugins that need to be installed. The first plugin is called Google XML Sitemaps. Sitemaps tell search engines like Google and Yahoo! what pages are available on your site for crawling. They give search engines a road map to your most important content. With the Google XML Sitemap plugin, generating a XML-compliant sitemap is a snap.
The second critical plugin is called HeadSpace2. The functionality of HeadSpace2 could fill 10 articles. For example, you can set a single page or post to use a WordPress theme other than the one you've selected for your site. You can set global meta keywords that get inserted into all of your site's pages. You can insert your Google Analytics (more on this next week) id into HeadSpace2 to track your site's traffic. I highly recommend this plugin if you have the time to understand how to use it. If you do, you should read the HeadSpace2 plugin page.
Related Posts is the third plugin, which automatically inserts related posts at the end of each post. This gives your readers some additional articles related to the topic if they want to keep reading. But the plugin also has a big SEO benefit. Internal links, that is links from one part of your site to another, are absolutely critical for SEO purposes. I'll even go so far as to say that they are more important than back links. And the related posts plugin ads relevant internal links to all of your posts.
And that's it. As I said at the start, you can get to a point where you can have a new site up and running in under twenty minutes. I've written a more detailed tutorial on how to start a money making blog using WordPress that you can check out if you want a more detailed set of instructions. The tutorial covers other steps such as picking and installing an optimized WordPress theme and configuring WordPress.

Apartment Financing Explained

So you're interested in entering the world of property management? Have you thought about how you're going to get into this potentially lucrative market? Let's face it; unless you've just inherited a large sum of money or are otherwise independently wealthy you're going to have to borrow. This is where apartment financing comes in.

Before you go down to the local bank or investment company, it might be a good idea to ask yourself how long you expect to own the apartment building or complex. Is this a long-term investment? The answer to this question can significantly impact the type apartment financing you should get.

If you are planning on owning the property for a couple of years or less, most experts agree that an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) will be your best method of apartment financing. Like the name suggests, an ARM is a loan will an interest rate that may change with time in accordance with an index. ARMs will usually offer a better initial interest rate than other loans in order to offset the risk of future interest rate fluctuations. Moreover, the mortgage holder is also protected by a maximum interest rate, or ceiling, that may be reset every year. Individuals planning to stay in the property management business for the long term may want to look into a fixed rate mortgage. A fixed rate loan will guarantee the same interest rate over the life of the mortgage.

If interest rates are historically low at the time you receive the loan, this type of loan will lock you in at the best possible rate. On the other hand, if interest rates are historically high at the time of the loan, you could be stuck paying higher interest than you would have with another method of apartment financing.

Another important question you may want to think about before seeking an apartment financing source is the estimated cost of the property. This may seem like a fairly obvious question to consider when looking for a loan, but far too many first-time investors just take the interest rates they're given without question. If the property you're interested in is selling for over $500,000, a direct lending source or investment company can give you a better interest rate than most banks or credit unions. However, if you're looking at a smaller apartment building selling for under 500k you may want to see what your local bank can offer you.

With both banks and other lending institutions eager to provide apartment financing, new options have emerged in recent years. Generally smaller banks and other lending sources like direct lenders have a greater degree of flexibility in their loan-offering lineup. In an effort to attract more borrowers, many of these lenders are now offering either non-recourse or partial-recourse loans.

The traditional recourse loan offered by most institutions meant that the lender could have claim on the personal or corporate assets in the event of the default of the mortgage holder. A non-recourse loan on the other hand means the lender cannot hold you personally liable if you fail to repay the debt as promised. The only recourse of the lender is to take the property you've pledged as security for your loan, but he cannot claim any other assets or money from you if you default.

If you plan to build the apartment building instead of buying it, some lenders may offer you a partial recourse construction loan. This means that until work is finished on the project, the borrower is responsible for the entire amount of the construction loan. However, as soon as the project is ready for occupancy and the apartment building has some value for the lender to seize, the borrower is responsible for only 50% or less of the value of the construction loan in the event of a default.

Whatever method you choose to provide apartment financing, it is important to make sure you understand all the details. Choose a lender that has both the experience and desire to sit down with you and take the time to answer your questions clearly. The right lender will go a long way in helping you find success in the exciting world of property investing and management.

Rebuilding Your Credit After Bankruptcy

In the past, filing bankruptcy was like having a Scarlet Letter on your chest. Bankruptcy made people outcasts and pariahs. It was as if a contagious disease struck, and no one wanted to be near you for fear of infection. Today, bankruptcy doesn't quite have the stigma it used to. Many of the world's most successful people have filed for bankruptcy. These people hit rock bottom, and have bounced back to become wildly successful. To emerge from bankruptcy requires diligence and discipline. In order to get back on your financial feet, you must rebuild your credit.

If you filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy, you had to make your court-ordered payments until the bankruptcy was satisfied. Even though you made great strides financially by doing so, lenders don't see it quite that way. Lenders don't consider your bankruptcy payments as a way to rebuild your credit. In fact, the "rebuilding credit" clock starts after it's discharged, no matter how long it takes you to pay while in chapter 13. If you filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy, rebuilding won't take quite as long. When you file for chapter 7 bankruptcy, your debts are essentially wiped out, and you start all over. Once your chapter 7 is discharged, which usually takes a few months from when you filed, your rebuilding credit clock starts.

When you file for chapter 7 bankruptcy, you have the choice of reaffirming some of your debt. In other words, you can choose to keep some of your credit lines open instead of having them wiped out. This is an option you might want to consider, especially if you have smaller credit cards with low balances (under $500). By continuing to pay your reaffirmed debt, you can help rebuild your credit with timely payments and low balances. Regardless of which bankruptcy you file, there will come a time when the bankruptcy is fully discharged.

It's almost like being free after years in prison � you made some mistakes, you paid for them, you (hopefully) learned your lesson, and you're looking to make a fresh start. Now, you have to rebuild your credit. Paradoxically, you need to obtain credit to rebuild credit, but you can't obtain credit if you just invalidated your creditors. One of the best and most popular ways to begin the process is to obtain a secured credit card. With a secured credit card, a credit company will extend you a credit line in exchange for a cash deposit. Your credit limit is usually equal to, or a percentage of, your deposit. Rarely, if ever, will it be higher than your deposit. These credit cards are not hard to find. A few weeks ago I started a live case study of launching a website aimed at earning advertising revenue, the VoFiles Project. It's time to talk about how to determine a website's initial advertising strategy in four easy steps, as well as our first update on the progress of VoFiles.com

I'll talk in general terms about determining advertising strategy, and also describe how we went about it for VoFiles।com.

1। Evaluate advertising opportuntiesAnytime you launch a new website, you should already have an idea of what plans you have for earning revenue. For the purpose of this discussion we'll assume advertising is one of the main revenue strategies for your site. Now, where do we go from here? It's not as simple as just deciding to go after advertising, there are many choices as to how you go about it, and you can often work with multiple strategies.

Premium AdvertisingAlso known as brand advertising, directly-sold advertising, sponsorships, or endemic advertising, this is advertising you sell yourself, most likely to companies within your topic or industry। There are a few companies that can help represent your inventory for you, but most of them actually classify more as small ad marketplaces. This is generally the most lucrative form of advertising, but it usually requires a high traffic site or a site that is a leader in it's topic. It also requires the most amount of effort to sell, manage, bill, and invoice. The bottom line is that very few new sites can sell premium advertising right off the bat unless they start out with a lot of momentum and a connected management team. I'd generally suggest planning for this later down the line when a site is more established.

Contextual advertising

Most people will simply know this as Google Adsense, but there are other players of course like the Yahoo Publisher Network। This type of advertising can be a huge success for a lot of focused sites in certain industries. Of course, I could talk for hours on how this type of advertising should be auctioned through an exchange like the Right Media Exchange using a product like RMX Direct, but we'll save that for later.

CPA/AffiliateCost Per Action (CPA) and affiliate advertising is a high risk/high reward form of advertising that works amazingly well for certain publishers, and horribly for others। The premise is that you get paid when you drive a user to an advertiser who pays you when that user performs the action the advertiser wants them to perform. This works really well for sites that recommend users buy things, or other classic affiliate sites like ring tones, software, ebooks, etc. There are actually affiliate networks like AzoogleAds and Commission Junction, but often you can work directly with an advertiser like Amazon.

Text Links/Ads, RSS, and MarketplacesThere are companies that sell text links on your site like Text Link Ads and Adbrite। Also companies that can sell ads in RSS feeds like Feedburner and Pheedo, or other marketplaces like Adify, Adster, and Performancing.

For VoFiles, we knew that selling premium advertising was probably unlikely because of general content as well as the social network audience not being the most desirable to advertisers। The trade off is that because VoFiles is in the booming social networking space, we're hoping to use sheer traffic volume on ads that pay less to generate revenue. Which is easier? A targeted site is probably easier, but we wanted to explore the social networking "studio space". Now that we know that our goal is to aim for traffic volume we can plan accordingly. Because our pages are not filled with focused content, contextual advertising is also a bit of a challenge, but still possible. The obvious choice was to start off with display advertising networks, with an eye toward the future in contextual ads as well as text ads and joining a few marketplaces.

After evaluating all those options, it's time to choose your tool।

2. Choosing a Tool to Manage Ads

Depending on what type of advertising options above you choose, you'll need a good tool of some type to manage your ads। Most of the above solutions provide an "ad tag" which is basically some type of javascript or similar code that puts the ads on your site। However, if you plan on running multiple types of advertising, you'll need a tool to manage it all.

Ad ServersThe most common tool used to manage web advertising is ad servers. They generally can manage graphical display advertising whether it's premium or ad networks, contextual advertising, and affiliate advertising. Very few do much with text links at this point. There is quite a range of ad serving options. You have everything from an ad server meant for premium like DART from Doubleclick, to a smart ad server like Right Media's PMX product made for yield management and maximization or remnant inventory, to something free like phpAdsNew. Most ad servers do have fees associated with them since they provide bandwidth, support, hosting of data, and other services.
Revenue Management PlatformsIf you are just getting started with advertising on your site, or you are primarily working with contextual or display ad networks, then a revenue management platform like RMX Direct is the best choice for you। RMX Direct is neither an ad server alone or an ad network, but combines the best of both worlds while allowing you to manage and auction your inventory to any ad networks you're working with, as well as work directly with ad networks on the Right Media Exchange through the tool. Other Random ToolsThere are quite a few other random blog plugins, PHP scripts, and purchaseable tools that can be used to help manage your ad inventory in various ways। There are too many list, and not that many I'd really recommend.

When we looked at tools for VoFiles।com, we knew that premium advertising was most likely not going to be a huge part of our advertising mix, so RMX Direct made the most sense for us as a way to manage our ad network relationships. It not only allows us to get all the networks and advertisers on the Right Media Exchange auctioning for our inventory, but allows us to auction ad networks like Adsense, Yahoo Publisher Network, Valueclick, and more.

If we end up using some of the various ad marketplaces, we will most likely just have to place their code directly on our pages as they don't fit their ads in standard ad sizes।

3. Placing Ads on your

After you have your types of advertising picked out as well as the tools in place to manage it all, it's time to choose where to place your ads on your site। This is something I refer to as the "advertising balancing act"। As a publisher, you want to make as much money as possible. In order to reach that goal you need to place ads where users are most likely to see/click/act on them. However, this usually leads to a worse user experience on your site as ads can make your design and usability worse, they can distract users from their core tasks, or generally just get in the way. An argument can be made that really highly targeted and useful ads can help a user's experience, but generally this isn't the case. So how do you balance the need to make money with the need to please your users and keep them coming back?

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this equation, it's really up to you as a publisher to analyze how much advertising your users will put up with and where it should be placed on your site। I've seen sites that are successful with very little advertising that blends in perfectly with their site, and also seen sites that have blatant and annoying advertising all over the place that users seem to deal with just fine.

I can recommend look at the heat map provided by Google Adsense to get a general idea for which areas of a web page usually see the best ad results. The darker the color on the map, the more successful ads are in that area. As you can see from the map, the best place to put an ad is smack dab in the middle of a page where a user is used to seeing real content. So that ad space is the most valuable, but also the most annoying spot for users to see an ad.

For VoFiles।com we decided to place our ads in standard locations without getting too much in the way of the user. Our 468×60 banner ad is placed in a central location near the top of the page. 728×90 leaderboard ads usually pay more, but didn't fit into our design. We put a wide 160×600 skyscraper about middle way down the page on the right side in the column, and then on the actual profile content pages we add a 300×250 rectangle box in the middle right under the meat of the content. We will most likely add more ad placements on the page over time, as well as some text ad advertising in the right column.

4. Monitoring Your Results and testing

The last piece of the puzzle which often separates publishers from decent success to great success is continuing to monitor your ad results and continually test.

Just like with web analytics, analyzing advertising results is very important to recognize changes and make the most of your ad inventory। Using a good ad server or revenue management platform like RMX Direct will help you have access to good reporting data that will allow you test different ad placements, geotargeting, frequency-capping, and other techniques to squeeze the most revenue possible out of your inventory.

TestingMost people just think moving around where your ads are located is all there is to testing। While that is a great thing to test, don't forget to test other ad sizes, and most importantly test as many ad networks, ad marketplaces, and different advertising avenues as possible. Also, tests should be rerun in different times of the year, because what worked in January might have different results in July.

VoFiles Progress UpdateInstead of weekly statistical updates as I had suggested, I'm going to do monthly updates on VoFiles statistical progress। It's unlikely I would really get weekly updates accomplished, and in most weeks there probably wouldn't be much change worth noting. December will be the first full month of stats for VoFiles, so we'll do a first month stat update at the beginning of January.

Regarding the progress of the site, we haven't really done much marketing at all yet। We've added some profiles, and done some informal user studies which has taught us that many social network users don't really get what to do on VoFiles since they aren't used to the voting concept made popular by Digg. The quickest solution is to add more obvious instructions, but I think for long term success we need to change to something along the lines of a monthly voting model. Basically, the votes will last for a month so that a user could be voted "Best Profile Layout" for the month of January. This should be easier to understand, provide something for users who have profiles submitted to shoot for, and hopefully lead to more viral spreading of the site among social networks. We also need to develop some badges for profiles to promote voting or show that a user has won a VoFiles monthly category.

It has proved to fill our needs in some ways so far to test various parts of RMX Direct, but we definitely need more traffic and users to be accepted by other ad networks and get a full geographical spectrum of users.If you search more marketing articles,please Click here

DeVry University has its roots from way back in 1931 as a film and radio repair teaching establishment. Today it is amongst the largest schools run for profit in the United States. The University as a company also finds mention in the '100 best Corporate Citizen' list ranked at number 11. Through the years, over a quarter of a million students have graduated from the University. Its total number of enrolments according some estimates is around 50,000, which is a tad lower than that of Phoenix University.

DeVry University boasts of 70 odd locations from where students can take classes. Students can also take online classes. The most important attribute of the University is the range of programs offered. There is something for every body - full time, part time, night study or weekend classes or pure online classes. By offering both online and brick and mortar classes at a variety of locations, students find they are able to find the combination that best suits their needs.

The university is fully accredited and offers various courses in areas of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications and Business Administration at both undergraduate as well as graduate levels. This differentiates the school from some of the other online universities, like Capella, that have repeatedly failed to receive accreditation for its programs. Of particular note, is the business school, which has a strong focus on business management. In the final stages of your search for a good web hosting company, a very important step is to test "the finalists". Because most web hosting companies have client support email(s) listed openly on their website, testing the quality and speed of their support is quite easy. All you have to do is send an email with one or more questions.

Let's take things step by step. First you have to find that email address. Usually you can find it in a "contact us" or "about us" section. Different email addresses result in different test results. What I mean by that is that you have to send an email to the SUPPORT team to verify the level of support, NOT the sales team.

There are different types of hosting companies: some web hosting companies answer their support emails a lot faster than they answer sales related emails, while others do exactly the opposite. You find that strange? Don't! It'a all a metter of fosus. Generally, good companies focus on their current customers and they regard (not without reason) support tickets as more important than new sales. Sure, the sales department should be reasonably good too, but, as a customer, it's reassuring to know that you come first when time is short.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't send emails to the sales teams. Certain questions are to be sent to the sales department, but the department that really should be tested (customer wise) is the support department. The reason is that after you sign-up for the service you will deal almost exclusively with the support staff.

By sending a test email web several things can be verified (and compared):

1. The amount of time it takes to receive a response.

To get the most of of the test (and be able to make a valid comparison between different companies) you should take special care not to favor any company.

To test the response time accurately you have to ensure that all investigated companies are send the emails at roughly the same hour (their time, not your time). Today we have hosting companies with staff in USA, UK, Australia, Hong Kong etc. Why not "exactly" at the same time? Because this is not rocket science! Of course, be as precise as you possibly can, but don't stress yourself too much.

Another thing is to select the right day in the week. As you might expect, in the weekend the response time can be somewhat longer. But, to put it short, I would send the e-mail Saturday night after midnight (their time, remember?). This should be the ultimate test.

Time evaluation: Anything under 6 hours can be considered a very good response in my opinion.

2. The quality of the response.

Answer quality has many facets. One of them is the quality of the information. Is the question answered precisely and correctly? Another one is the quantity of information. Is the answer incomplete, complete or provides all you ever wanted and a bit more?

Another is the clarity of the answer. Is the answer easy to understand, explains the "tech" words that you might not be familiar with or it sounds like gibberish?

Another is the structure of the answer. Is it well structured, stating with A and finishing with Z, or it's all a mess?

3. The personal level of the conversation (and/or politeness)

There are different approaches to this politeness issue. Some hosting companies use the "Sir" formula and some web hosting companies use the "you" formula (I don't thing there are many using the "Ya" word) . It's all a matter of taste. There are web hosting companies employing the "friendly above all" approach and companies employing the "respectful above all" approach.

As I said, it's a matter of taste. I usually prefer the friendly approach because it allows a "personal touch" and a slightly more relaxed conversation. But hey! Who am I to judge you! If you prefer to be called "Sir" or "Ma'am", I am OK with that. Just tell me when you send me an email which type of conversation you prefer and I assure you I will do my best to respect your likes (and dislikes).

I guess those are the things we can test with a test email. Let's devise now such a test email. This will be just a sample to give you a rough idea; you're free to make-up your own test.

Note that because you're not hosted by them yet, your question come from someone they don't know and can't verify if it's a client or not. You could be asked to provide some form of client identification in order to receive an answer, but I doubt this will happen.

Of course this test is mainly for UNIX/Linux servers with PHP (the majority of such servers are PHP enabled, but you should make sure about it in each case).

OK... So what are we looking for in the answer?

First of all, because the script doesn't work and it simply gets listed, it's almost obvious that the script file is not parsed by PHP. In 99% of the cases this is due to the fact that the file extension is not .php (e.g. "scriptfile.php"). Since in basic HTML design the files are saved as .htm or .html files, new web programmers save script files with one of those extensions too. This is a common mistake.

You can set .htm and .html files to be parsed by PHP too. They should explain this to you, suggest that you either change the file extension to .php or have .htm and .html files parsed by the server, and of course, instruct you how to do it.

Also, a very good support team would offer to do make the necessary changes provided that you tell them what's the name of your account with them (website name).
